Lost Wolf Missives – Seabreeze Spire
We are excited to premiere the Tamrinor Adventurer’s Guide to Haven’s Coast and Windsfurrow at the upcoming UK Games Expo (UKGE). In anticipation of the launch, and to release supplementary materials that didn’t make the initial printing, this post will introduce the Emberwolf Archives branch located in Coggesmoot. This chaotic town is renowned as the home of the goblins, the preeminent tinkerers and Artificers in Tamrinor.
You might ask, what are the Emberwolf Archives? Publicly, they are known throughout Tamrinor as beacons of knowledge – an extensive system of libraries and educational institutions committed to enlightening the masses. But delve deeper, and you’ll discover their clandestine role. The Emberwolf Archives are also Tamrinor’s unseen guardians, a web of spies who unearth forgotten lore and harness arcane energies. Their secret mission: to shield the populace from the insidious and often hidden dangers that threaten the land.
Seabreeze Spire presents an idyllic vista of a seaside resort, resting gently under the vigilant watch of the Alliance of Casimir. Along its sun-dappled promenade, nestled between vibrant, paintbox-bright hotel fronts and charming, quaint gift shops, stands the Emberwolf Archive for Marine Life Study. Unlike its sister Archives across Tamrinor, which typically house venerable tomes, this unique branch boasts a sprawling aquarium. Here, curious tourists and inquisitive locals alike can come face-to-face with the marvellous and the mundane denizens of the deep, creatures rarely glimpsed on the surface. Dedicated volunteers, their smiles as bright as the seaside air, readily offer fascinating insights about the marine life as they diligently feed and care for the aquatic inhabitants.
The public face of this thriving Archive is the halfling, Belkin Brambleson. His warm smile and perpetually twinkling eyes radiate a gentle welcome. Dressed in practical clothing suited for both engaging with his diverse visitors and the meticulous upkeep of the aquarium, he has a subtle habit of adjusting the spectacles perched at the end of his nose. Belkin possesses an encyclopaedic knowledge of marine creatures, answering every question, no matter how simple or complex, with boundless enthusiasm, punctuating his explanations with the most captivating anecdotes. His very presence infuses the bustling public spaces with a sense of serene calm and order.
Meanwhile, the private heart of the Archive hums with a different purpose. It houses state-of-the-art facilities for the tender care of sick and wounded sea life, including those rare creatures touched by the wild essence of elemental magic. Within these secure walls, the most complete summaries of those who have braved the treacherous journeys into the Maelstrom are meticulously kept, safeguarding their profound experiences. From here, arcane instruments, intricate and vital, tirelessly monitor the distant, raging supernatural storm on the far side of the continent. Overseeing this crucial, clandestine aspect of the Archive is Grace, the blue-skinned Maelstrom Tiefling, whose eyes literally crackle with the untamed light of the storm itself. Grace moves with an air of quiet authority, clad in dark, functional garments often subtly embroidered with arcane symbols. Her gaze is sharp, perpetually assessing and analytical. She is fiercely intelligent, her mind a vast repository of knowledge concerning both arcane mysteries and the more esoteric aspects of marine biology. Grace navigates the arcane weather-monitoring instruments with consummate skill, interpreting their shifting readings and making critical decisions with unhesitating precision. When threats arise or security is breached, her response is swift, decisive, and absolute.
Uniting these two distinct halves of the Archive, ensuring the seamless hum of day-to-day operations, is the jocular and wonderfully rotund Terra Ovid Nate Indie, affectionately known as Toni, the Avian. Toni is rarely seen without a snack, a delightful, constant companion. Her brightly coloured feathers, often slightly ruffled from her perpetual motion and cheerful nibbling, mirror her larger-than-life personality. She is a truly friendly soul, her hearty laugh echoing through the halls, underpinned by an undeniably easy-going demeanour. Though she favours comfortable clothing with an abundance of pockets—perfect for stashing snacks, cryptic notes, and intriguing trinkets—Toni’s jovial exterior belies an incredibly efficient mind. She keeps an astonishing, meticulous mental track of every single happening within the Archive, a master of mediating disputes, deftly delegating tasks, and ensuring both halves of the sprawling facility operate with flawless harmony.
